A highly effective, low foam auxiliary for the prevention of phenolic yellowing during storage of textiles. The product is primarily suited to Polyamide fibres, fabrics and blends, but can be used on various other fibres and blends. GOTS Approved Product.
It can be applied during the dyeing stages or as a final single finish for optimal results.
Texassist APY can be applied by pad or exhaust at levels of 10-40g/L or 2-8% respectively. Please refer to the Technical Data Sheet for full details.
Test study versus leading branded product and variation with pH
This particular study was carried out to asses the ability of Texassist APY to perform at a higher than normal pH application, and for comparison was evaluated alongside a current leading product; “Product A”. Both products were evaluated for phenolic yellowing at two different pH levels on a woven piece of Nylon / Cotton fabric.
They were subjected to an exhaustion process at pH 4.00 and pH 5.00.
The products were applied to the substrate at a level of 8% on weight of goods.
The application route was carried out by exhaustion at a liquor top cloth ratio of 8:1, rising from a temperature of 60°C to 98°C over 20 minutes and maintained at 98°C for 30 minutes.
The substrates were then individually washed off in cold water and subsequently dried and conditioned prior to the phenolic yellowing evaluation.
All fabrics were prepared and evaluated along with an untreated piece of the original cloth and a standard piece of control fabric (100% Nylon) to asses the degree of yellowing.
The phenolic yellowing test method was carried out in accordance with EN ISO 105-X18:2007; Assessment of the potential to phenolic yellowing of materials.
The results obtained can be seen in the illustration provided below.

Grade: 1 1 4/5 2/3 4 2/3
It can be seen from the comparison tests carried out at both pH levels that Texassist APY is at least as good as the leading brand, and at pH 4, gives a slightly better result by ½ a grade.
This test also illustrates that to obtain maximum results, we recommend that Texassist APY is applied to the fabric with the pH of the bath / padding liquor at 3.50.
